Unfortunately this technique doesn't allow the indicator on the toggle to reflect the current output. When output is high the indicator is off. I can certainly understand wanting to keep things simple. I wasn't thinking a new circuit, I was think just adding a default setting to the existing circuit...

Other than one enable pin pointed up and the other enable pin pointed down what is the functional difference between the 2 Tri-State buffers?

Having a option to default a toggle button to high useful.

A live probe, similar to a meter probe, that can be moved around while the circuit is running would be a cool feature. Just needs to indicate high or low conditions. It would speed troubleshooting up a lot.
